Gestalt psychology is the idea that the whole idea is more important than the individual parts. There are 6 parts. I agree with this, although at first I was hesitant. The things that make me up: Divorced parents, My father is an addict, I am the oldest of 4 and I’m in rehab. I think these things are important to me and my growth as a human being but I feel like those things don’t define me. The things I have been through are an explanation, not an excuse. I strive to be known by my name, rather than my experiences. As an example “Oh that’s Alicia” not “Oh that’s that girl in rehab”. It is important when it comes to explaining my experiences but my experiences aren’t all that make me up.
